default options

There are some basic structures and designs that many people think of when it comes to hotels.

  • Hotel/Motel

These are standard establishments that offer accommodation and various amenities and services. They can be independent or part of a larger hotel/motel chain.

  • Limited service hotel

These hotels keep accommodation simple while still offering budget accommodation. They are usually in economic, medium or medium-high rankings. Its limited services and amenities often preclude a full-service on-site restaurant.

  • New building

This terminology refers to a hotel property that is built from the ground up to be a hotel. This differs from hotels, which once served a different function and were used for a hotel. A major benefit of new construction is that you can focus on creating a design that is ideal for hotel use and can include special features and amenities that make it stand out.

All bells and whistles

Some types of hotels offer manyfeatures and amenitiesover the basics.

  • Full-Service-Hotel

In this type of hotel you will find almost everything you can expect from your accommodation. That means it will offer a variety of on-site amenities, including likely restaurants, workout rooms, spas, and meeting spaces. These hotels are usually luxurious, exclusive or high-end properties.

  • All-Inclusive-Hotels

This type resembles a full-service hotel in terms of the amenities offered, but the amenities and services are combined with the rooms in an overall package. This means that the price a person pays includes the room as well as additional amenities and services such as food, tips, and activities. With this configuration, the guest can enjoy everything (or almost everything) that the hotel offers without having to pay for each item separately. It offers a worry-free experience.

  • target office

Leisure travelers like to stay in these properties, which tend to be more in the tourist markets. Rather than just being a place to stay while you visit tourist attractions, these resorts are destinations in their own right. That's because they have so much to do on-site and offer a unique and rejuvenating experience without leaving the property. These sites tend to be large, fully serviced, and packed with amenities and great customer service.

  • Options for all suites

People who want a premium experience or extra space can opt for an all-suite hotel. In this configuration, guests book suites, which are larger than standard hotel rooms and offer more space, more furniture, and a separate living room. There can even be more than one bedroom leading off the living room.

Independent or small options

Not all hotels belong to large chains. Instead they can beindependent, smaller or retain their own distinctive qualities.

  • Hotelboutique

Boutique properties tend to be standalone and have fewer rooms (fewer than 200). They have unique room configurations and amenities, unlike corporate hotels that look almost the same in every city in the world. They offer a piece of local culture and history as well as unique experiences and services. Despite a high average rate per stay, guests enjoy the unique and local aspects of these hotels.

  • Lifestyle-Marke

This is a group of hotels under one brand. They are usually franchises and the defining characteristic is that the brand stays current and adapts to the trends.

  • Soft Brand Hotel

This is a hotel affiliated with a large chain, but it stands out for its unique style. Instead of being like just another network, it now has its own name, layout, and design.

house properties

Some features help people feel at home with cozy environments or longer stays.

  • Bed and breakfast/hostel

These properties are independently owned and operated by the owner who is usually the innkeeper residing on the premises. These are small establishments, usually with 20 rooms or fewer, and often resemble a large home. Normally the guest's breakfast is included in the room rate. These units typically feel like staying in someone's home, as they are small, warmly decorated, have a personal touch, and offer access to the entire home.

  • condominiums

Another option is to rent a condominium. This facility comprises individual, sole proprietorship condos with a rental pool managed by a management company.

  • extended stay

Some people are looking for accommodation for more than a few nights. In this case, you can opt for long-term accommodation. The average length of stay is still not very long at four to seven nights, but guests have the benefit of staying for a weekly rate rather than a night. This is an excellent option for a week or two family vacation.

  • Multipropiedad

A timeshare is a property in which one person owns the ownership rights along with other parties and is usually located in a condominium. The various parties have reached an agreement on who may use the property and when.

special properties

Some hotels focus on specific travel purposes.

  • conference center

Companies and organizations can hold their events in a conference center that has the necessary amenities for a conference. To qualify as a conference center, these specialty properties must meet International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) guidelines.

  • convention center

A similar structure is that of a convention center. Its primary focus is hosting conventions and should not be part of the Conference Center Group (CCG). Instead, these hotels meet the needs of conventions with meeting facilities of 20,000 square feet or more and 300 or more rooms.

  • Gaming/Casino-Hotels

These hotels focus on casino amenities so their guests can enjoy a casino right where they are staying.

  • golf property

These sites offer their guests a golf course advertised as one of the property's amenities. A property does not earn this award for privileges at a nearby golf course, so a golf hotel guarantees guests a specific experience.

  • Skihotel

These hotels offer local ski access as one of their main amenities. Those staying here have the luxury of skiing locally and then returning to the hotel to dry off, warm up and relax.

  • spa property

Rather than offering some spa services, this type of hotel includes an on-site spa facility with rejuvenating spa treatments offered by full-time staff.

  • Water park property

These locations offer guests the convenience of having a water park as part of the complex. They differentiate themselves by renting out rooms, along with an indoor or outdoor water park of at least 10,000 square feet, and the stay includes water park features like slides and tubes.

As you can see, there is a wide range of hotel types. Some are cheap, some are mid-range, and some are higher tier. Some offer a basic stay, while others offer exclusive or first-class services. The type of hotel determines the approach, be it the comfort of the stay itself, a specificity of the place or the culture of the region. Guests have different expectations depending on the type of hotel, and as a team member you would adapt your role to the environment.
